Highlights

Museom Village

A village that floats like an island in a river bend. Of its forty-odd houses, some thirty are late-Joseon gentry homes; the single-log bridge was its only link to the world for centuries.

Sosu Seowon (UNESCO)

Korea's first royally chartered Confucian academy, founded 1542–43 beneath Sobaeksan.

Buseoksa Temple (UNESCO)

Founded in 676 by master Uisang, cradle of Korean Hwaeom Buddhism. Its Muryangsujeon hall is among the oldest wooden buildings in Korea, named for the 'floating stone' beside it.
